Backstory:
Rotharion was born to a noble family, the Duskbane, a legendary family known for fighting the undead. However, his family was declared sluggish and revoked of status before he could even talk. Despite their fall, his parents proceeded to spend their large coffers as if there was always tithes coming in, it didn't last a year. Rotharion grew up in poverty working for a old farmer to do yardwork as he gotten to old. During this time he was paid quite handsomely (for a farmers assistant, wasn't actually very much) and learned how to use several farmers tools including the scythe. During this time, he also learned of a hidden "gift", he could kill things simply by focusing some kind of inner power in it. However, he feared this power and refused to use it, he kept it hidden, from everyone, even his parents and the old man. Then, his sister, Lucy, was born. Rotharion adored his sister and with what little money was left (and he hid from his parents who had at this point needed to get "peasant jobs") he spent on treats for her. Then the farmer died, what Rotharion didn't know was that the farmer was in debt himself and almost all of his estate went to paying those debts. However, he wrote that whatever was left went to him. After the debt-collectors took their share, all that was left was a masterwork sickle, though time has taken it's toll, and a few coins which he spent getting food for a month. Rotharion was then sent terrible news, he, at the age of 17, was being drafted away. Rotharion new that the summons was likely for his father and the coward signed him up instead, but didn't know how to stop it now that he received them under his name. He left for a year, thankfully for him he was assigned to a outpost on the outskirts. He was a simple guard in a secluded area and went his year with more conflict among who gets the last piece of bread then against any enemies. When it was time for him to return home, he convinced his commanding officer to allow him to keep the crossbow for hunting. Unfortunately, it wouldn't defend him from the horror that awaited for him at home. When he returned, he found his precious sister has starved to death in his absence. He knew his parents were to blame but they claimed she refused in some illness. The only reason he didn't kill them there and then is he would never forgive himself for missing the funeral. For the next two days, he spent for preparations always spending the his free time with his sister, unknowingly his powers filled the room with necromantic powers. Over the three days in his sorrow, he didn't even realize as the negative energy seeped into his sisters corpse, and it began to move. On the day of her funeral, he awoken to a cold hand holding his. His sister, who has returned from the dead. Rotharion was overjoyed and immediately showed his parents that she has returned to them, his parents instantly recognized the undead, not as a child, but as a tool to get back in standing. They could embellish the story and if worded carefully, they could get back in standing. At minimum they would get some reward. Rotharion saw red, he lost his sister once, and he would be dammed by the nine hells if he lost her again. He charged his father and grabbed his arm, injecting his horrible power as his father screamed with pain and fell to the floor. His mother grabbed a pan and attempted to hit him but missed. He grabbed her face and injected his death attack, killing her. His father returned to his feet and charged him however the pain in his arm distracted him so Rotharion dodged, Rotharion put hand on his back-
The village made four empty graves that day, one for Lucy who died from illness and three more for Rotharion and his parents who died when their house fire.
Rotharion looks at the rarely traveled trail, it would keep them safe, for now. He looks over and smiles at his sister, unbothered by her new form. He takes step, with his new crossbow and his trusty sickle, and begins his new life. Though he felt revigorated by this new power, he realized he was a fool for keeping it hidden, a mistake he would not make again.

Motivation: Rotharion is in a ever search for more power. He seeks power at all costs even at the expense of others. His reason however is that he believes that his sister will never be truly safe until the meekest of peasants to the greatest of dragons speak his name in fear and respect, to become so powerful no one dares attack them again.
