[The encounter has begun...]

Zerathos
Hangs helplessly, limp some 50 ft in the air.

Phineas
Hanging some 50 or 60 feet in the air, held by the tentacle of a god around your head and covering your mouth and nose, unable to breathe, you scramble to think of anything you can possibly do at this point?

Lorennia
Hanging some 50 or 60 feet in the air, held by the tentacle of a god around her and covering your mouth and nose, Lorennia hangs limp and unconscious.

Ghar
Missing, no one knows where Ghar is.

Kawa
Safe from the beast for now off toward the lake, you are able to see everything that is happening outside of the Library... An enormous burning Ooze monster with tentacles is swiping up people by their heads and popping them into its mouth.

Kragar
In the lead of the group that emerged from the dungeons, you have full view of the monstrosity in front of you all.
It hasn't seemed to notice your group yet.

Horat
Behind Kragar in the middle of your group, you don't see everything going on at the ground level, but it's impossible to miss the enormous ooze-monster that is holding people by their heads and popping them into its mouth!

Etali
Taller than Horat and farther behind Kragar, you have a clear view of everything that is happening in front of the Library.
What do you do?

Phineas

**pull out my pocketknife and stab the tentacle**

"Mmmm-Mppphhh"

Coyotemoon

How faraway am i? And can i get with 60ft?

muichiro

* I try to get closer without getting seen after activating my fox devotion**

Horat

Are there any weapons in the room? Even improvised weapons such as a torch.

Kragar

I try to take flight and if I can get within 30 feet, before the monster sees me, I use my breath weapon on it.

GameMaster

Zerathos
Still hanging limp and probably unconscious.

Phineas
The pocketknife doesn't penetrate the hardened blubbering skin... If it does any damage, Malgrathor doesn't notice.

Lorennia
Lorennia still hangs limp, unconscious.

Ghar
Ghar is still missing.

Kawa
With your extra mobility, you are able to get very close, but you quickly find he already knows exactly where you are.  As the tentacle starts to materialize across your face however, your incredible reflexes are able to twist and turn away and impossibly, he misses!
You are now near where the Library wall used to be, in the huge hole that was created by it.  A quick glance inside shows that there is a shield on the floor, and the straps are facing upward.

Kragar
You easily take flight, but it already seems to know eactly where you are.  You get close enough to release your mighty cone of force, which slams into the burning blubbery oozeflesh.  The monsterous thing's good eye narrows and he focuses on you, his response is to materialize a tentacle across your mouth and nose before you can draw another breath, and he swings you around and around wrapping you more and more to keep you from breaking free... Your wings pinned, it starts to constrict your arms next...

Horat
Looking around the room yet again, your eyes glance at a mirror.  A fog you didn't know was there burns away around you, and memories slam into you... You remember who you are, and begin to remember how you got here... And most importantly, you remember your prepared spells!

Etali
[Yes, you can move 30 feet and still be within range of your breath weapon.  Assuming you unleash it...]
A wicked blast of lightning splits the world in two, travelling horizontally from Etali's mighty form and slamming into the massive Ooze, burrowing a hole straight through the thing.  The ooze refills the hole quickly, but it is left burning for several moments.

Malgrathor shouts defiantly, BOTH OF YOU AS WELL!??  THEN LET IT BE SO... YOU SHALL BOTH PERISH WITH THEM!!

As if it was always there, another tentacle appears forming over Etali's mouth and nose, choking him and lifting him by his head, spinning him in an attempt to consctrict him as it did to Kragar.

What do you do?

Coyotemoon

I use my claws to try to free myself.

Kragar

I try to claw at the tentacles that are holding me.

Horat

I cast magic missile at the malgrathor, I then get as far away as possible while still being able to see the thing, hoping to be out of tentacle range.

Phineas

with strength, try to force the tentacles off me, if that doesn't work ...  use escape artist techniques to try and wiggle my way out of the tentacles  ...

Zerathos
Zerathos seems to awaken and begins struggling desperately.

Phineas
Struggling to breath, close to passing out, Phineas sees Ghar... Standing on top of the Library, on top of the Clocktower... With the flaming sword of Zerathos in his hands?  And he seems to be readying himself to toss it down?

Lorennia
Lorennia still hangs limp, unconscious.

Kawa
Yet another tentacle attempts to wrap itself around Kawa's head, but his Fox vision gives him time for his Fox reflexes to dodge yet again!

Kragar
Krager struggles with all his might, digging his claws into the tentacles, but to no avail... He is now fully constricted, and can no longer breathe.

Horat
Some 400 ft away, you are able to send the magic missile unerringly into the bulk of the creature.  It strikes with a thud! but if he feels it, he's too distracted to pay attention at the moment.

Etali
Struggling with all your strength, you claw and twist and fight, but it only constricts around you even more tightly.

Cyric
Dark purple lighting bursts in a starlike pattern in front of Malgrathor.  A burst of sharp energy explodes and dissapates in the air, and noen other than Cyric himself steps out in front of the drunks in the tavern, towering over them.  The Pact is binding, Ghaunadaur.  What's mine is mine, and I'll not have you spoil those that I have plans for."

Malgrathor responds angrily in some unknown language, puking up a sickly light green slime over Cyric with a gutteral curse.

Cyric growls,  "You dare!?" but his precense fades and he is forced away.

Ghar
The deific attacks are not finished, however... Just on the other side of the Gate stands a massive kobold, none other than the most revered Kurtulmak himself, nearly as big as Malgrathor...  Yipping in a booming voice, it begins throwing javelins at Malgrathor, who twists and screaches in surprise and fear.  Desperate to avoid the javelins, his grip weakens and he drops Zerathos, Kragar, and Etali, holding onto only Lorennia and Phineas.

Upon the Library above the Clocktower, Ghar reaches up and grabs the flaming sword of Zerathos.

Malgrathor
Spinning to face Kurtulmak, Malgrathor finds a javelin coming straight for his face that he cannot avoid.  Screaming in rage and expecting pain, Malgrathor opens his eye when no such hit occurs.  "Illusion?" he asks quietly, and then yells.  "ILLUSION!?"

Enraged, all the world seems to become tentacles, all the desert, blackness blocks out the light of the Sun itself.  Everyone fighting close by is captured within the powerful inky tentacles when the light returns several long moments later.  No one can breathe, your mouths and noses covered.  No one can break free, this Ooze-God-Thing is simply too powerful.  Even Kawa who has avoided every other attempt at capture, even Ghar some 100 ft. or more in the air.

Nobody can breathe.  Your bodies twist, flesh tears, your bones break.  Your hearts beat in your ears.  You begin to pass out.  You all realize you are dying.  Struggling with all your strength, none can break free from the strength of this ancient primordial god-thing.

But there is one among you who is not new to this.  One among you who is used to the darkness, to the pain, to the torture... To the twisted and torn body.  One who is not limited by breath through her mouth and nose alone.  As the extra tentacles receed into his bulbous ooze form and Malgrathor admires his handiwork, the tiniest of threats becomes evident.

Vengence Incarnate
How many centuries has it been?  Which house is it now?  Which Evil has her restrained this time, tortured, bound, and broken?  Attempting to suffocate her?
She opens her torn right eye to the disorientation and embraces it with all her heart.  Her right eye buldged completely out of its socket some time ago.  A shower of blood burst from her left ear.  In and out, in and out... slowly, rhythmatically, Malgrathor watches the blood trickle out of her eye socket and ear, and then back in... out... and then back in... trying to figure it out, he's never seen this on a corpse  Is she... breathing?  ...Through her eye and ear??  The corpse smiles wickedly.

Lörennia Naïlo opens her good eye, and she has a dagger in her hand.

What do you do?

Coyotemoon

I don't go quietly into the dark. Continue to rip at the tendrils around my mouth

Instinctively, I hook my left arm (and legs) around the tentacle before hacking it off with the knife in my right.

(for everyone else's reference)
Quote from: GameMaster on Dec 10, 2023, 05:56 PM[Zerathos] continues.  "The dagger is a fragment of my sword, broken from the blade and fitted with a handle.  It is the only thing in all the Multiverse that I know can hurt him"

[I have it on good authority that there is some, but not much, resistance to her cutting through the tentacle.]

Fortunately, my instinct was correct as I'm now hanging sixty feet above the ground.  Zeroing in on my target, I let go with my arm before my feet, diving with a slow backflip.  Lightly tossing the knife ahead of me, it impacts Malgrathor's good eye an instant before my extended heel drives it as deep as elvishly possible into whatever passes for his brain after the 52-foot drop (at least, I think he's 8 feet tall).

Assuming his body is enough to break my fall such that I'm still alive, I launch clear of Malgrathor's body with one last flip before landing lightly on the ground.

Complex_Assault

Ghar will try to cut himself free with the sword. He also tries to check on Ash if possible.
